The Village of Massangis is situated between L\'Isle sur Serein and Noyers in the Yonne, a department of Bourgogne.
No 6, Ruelle du Moulin is in the middle of the village but backs onto other houses and so is not overlooked. Immediately below it is the village park, the water meadows and the River Serein. The park is linked to the main road of the village by a foot path which separates the house on its southern side from the magnificent church.
This part of France is not on the main tourist trail and so it remains essentially French. The village lies within easy reach of Vezelay, Saumur en Auxois, and Avallon. The wine producing communities of Tonerre, Chablis,Chitry,Coulange,Irancy and Auxerre are within a 35 minute drive and in each of these vignerons will give you a warm welcome.
Massangis has no commerce other than a second-hand book shop. Bread is delivered by a van each morning. The small town of L`Isle sur Serein is (6km) to the south and Noyers (10km) to the north. Each of these communities has a butcher, chemist, bank, baker, grocery,bars and a hotel. There is a small market in each on Wednesdays, that in Noyers being the larger. As you will see from the map, there are many villages in the area and they are mostly beautiful. There are good restaurants within easy reach of Massangis and some of these are listed in the house book. The nearest supermarkets are at Avallon (19km).
