No. 6 Ruelle du Moulin is a charming cottage by water-meadows and river, in Massangis, a small village in stunning countryside of the Yonne. Two double bedrooms, modern shower room, childrens room with adjoining bathroom and living room with open fireplace and window-doors to the terrace.
The house faces south and lies beside the water-meadows, the River Serein and the village `park` which itself is linked to the road through the village by a foot-path, separating the house from the magnificent church.
Massangis has no commerce other than a second-hand book shop. L`Isle sur Serein (6km) and Noyers (10km) each has a butcher, baker, chemist, bar, restaurants and tourist office. The bread-van comes to the village every morning except Mondays.
The wine producing communities of Tonnerre (where Edward 1 found the nuns acquiescent and the wine delicious so he took the town), Chabli, Chitry, Coulange, Vezelay and others are within a 35 minute drive and in each the vignerons will welcome you warmly and invite you to their `caves`.
This part of France is not on the main tourist trail and so remains essentially `French`, rural, tranquil and stunningly beautiful.
