The rural holiday cottage has been furnished and decorated as a home from home for the owner rather than as a `rental property`. It is comfortable but not `shiney`, except for the bathrooms and kitchen which are brightish.
The house comprises of a comfortable living room with a stone fireplace at one end and French windows which open onto the terrace at the other. There is a fairly good upright piano, radio and cassette player, TV, and DVD. A refectory table is set close to the French windows and the terrace.
The kitchen has a professional standard \\\'Ilve\\\' cooker with four gas burners and an electric \\\'barbecue\\\' top. There are two electric ovens. Above the cooker is an efficient fume extractor. French windows open from the kitchen onto the terrace. There are ample modern cupboards and drawers. The kitchen has been equipped with cooking and feeding in mind.
The house has three bedrooms:two upstairs and one downstairs. The downstairs room is the childrens room and it has a set of bunk beds. It has an adjoining bathroom with bath/shower, sink and w.c. Upstairs one bedroom has two single beds and the other has one double bed. There is a modern shower room with sink and w.c at the end of the landing. The windows of the bedrooms look out over the church yard and the landing window looks over the water meadows.
Stone steps lead from the house to the pathway and the grassed \\\'garden\\\', where a bench has been placed to get the evening sun. There is plenty of room for a couple of cars to be parked beside the house.
Beneath the kitchen is a storage and utility area which houses the washing machine, the central heating boiler and the oil storage tank. A washing line has been hung from the ceiling but usually washing is hung to dry from the line in the vegetable garden.
Please note that the cellars and garage are not included in the rental but above the garage the owner\\\'s studio is being developed and painters would be welcome to make use of this on the implicit understanding that they accept any mess which they may find there because the cleaning lady is not allowed up there.
Utilities:
Firewood is provided but please be warned that some of the logs are hefty and may need splitting with the axe. The kitchen cooker has gas burning rings. The propane tank is in the wood section of the boiler room. A spare tank is kept beside it. If you have to change the tank it would be most helpful if you would leave a note for Annette who does the cleaning so that she can arrange for a new supply. The electricity boiler is in the cellar which is kept locked. The electrician is Mr Benard who lives in Civry and has keys and will come if called. The central heating system was installed my Mr Cocquinot who will also come if called. he has an office in L,Isle sur Serein and his telephone number is also in the house book.
It is worth noting that in France most family run businessess, including the best restaurants, the bakers, butchers etc all, other than the sheds close on Mondays, but are open all day on Saturdays and usually before lunch on Sundays.
