Walking: One may walk everywhere except through standing crops or livestock. To help, the tourist office has way marked some especially good routes.
Cycling: Wonderful safe cycling on virtually traffc free roads and many off road trails, which connect villages, wonderful river side picnic spots and river swimming pools.
Tennis: Excellent village court within easy walk from house.
Touring: Vezelay (with its abbey, monks and remains of Mary of Magdelene), Avallon, Auxerre, Semur-en-Auxois are all architcturaly beautiful market towns. Smaller large villages also have weekly markets and many local festivals and concerts. L`Isle sur Serein (6 km) has a tiny market on Wednesdays and Noyers (10km) has a larger one on the same day. The market at Avallon (19 km) is on Saturdays and is huge and exciting.
Swimming: It\'s quite common to see families bathing in the river. There are several spots quite nearby where the water is deep enough for a good wallow. There is also a new pool and gymnasium in L`Isle sur Serein.
Fishing: Coarse fishing in the river can be good. Carp, pike, perch, bream and trout (trout put in by local fishing association) are caught, and usually eaten. Permits are issued by the tourist office in L\'Isle-sur-Serein, you will probably not be jailed if you fish without one.
Vineyards & Wine: Cablis,Chitry,Irancy,Coulange,Vezelay ,St.Bris and Auxerre are all within 30 to 40 minutes drive.Beaune and Nuits St.George are about an hour and a half
away.A perfect centre for wine exploration.
